Women’s Center Hosted Annual International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (IDEVAW)
The Women’s Center hosted the third annual International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on November 16, as part of International Education Week at the Biscayne Bay Campus. The day began with an informative video that combined statistics, pictures, and video clips. The keynote speaker was Robin Rossmanith, founder of shoptostopslavery.com and a representative of Made By Survivors. Over 100 students enjoyed Robin’s interactive presentation. She spoke about interpersonal violence happening all over the world, how different agencies such as Made By Survivors are helping educate and empower women to keep them out of slavery, and she emphasized that no matter what major a student chooses, they can help stop violence. The day ended with a tranquil forgiveness burial held at the Peace Pole behind the Wolfe University Center.
