Chaz Bono Visits FIU

As part of the FIU LGBT Pride Week and Release Week at the Biscayne Bay Campus, the Office of Campus Life in collaboration with other FIU departments, brought celebrity transgender advocate and author Chaz Bono for an evening lecture. In his lecture, Bono shared stories about his experiences making the transition from female to male, his struggles to gain acceptance from his family, and other LGBT issues including the coming out process, transgender equality, and problems facing transgender youth. With over 150 guests from both FIU and the outside community, Bono’s lecture proved to be a confirmation of FIU’s Worlds Ahead initiative to become a more tolerant and global-thinking society.
