St. Jude Bike-A-Thon
The Children’s Creative Learning Center at FIU held its annual Bike-A-Thon in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on Friday, May 11th. The Center has held the annual event for more than 20 years, and to date the Bike-A-Thon has raised $15,000 for research at St. Jude’s. This year the Center raised a total of $1,500. The event was not only fun for the more than 50 children who participated but, an opportunity for them to learn about bike safety.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Visit to the Frost Museum
The Children’s Creative Learning Center at FIU had an on-campus field trip where the teachers and children walked to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum. The children learned about the Frost Museum, toured the main exhibit, walked through the Sculpture Park and spent time in the Discovery Gallery. They were able to draw connections between what they saw and the artwork they create at the Center.
Earth Day Walk to Wertheim
In honor of Earth Day, the Children’s Creative Learning Center went on their annual walk to the Wertheim Conservatory and Greenhouse on campus. Each classroom had different roles such as collecting litter and releasing ladybugs. The children were able to draw the insects and plants they saw along the way in personalized journals they created prior to the walk. Parents from each classroom were able to volunteer and assist in the event.
