Faculty in Residence
During the last week of June, the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education, Hilarion "Lari" Martinez, J.D., L.L.M., M.S., became the first Residential Life "Faculty in Residence." He spent two nights in Everglades Hall and offered several opportunities for residents to interact and learn from his life experiences.
Martinez hosted a special talk for Residential Life staff about enhancing their engagement and improving their preparedness for the world that awaits them.
During a luncheon that Martinez organized, two successful FIU graduates spoke with residents about getting the most out of their FIU college experience. The FIU Alum spoke to residents about enhancing engagement, seeking out opportunities, and planning for life after college.
At an evening event in housing, Martinez was the moderator for a panel discussion with distinguished guests. Students learned about various opportunities to be engaged in global learning. Panelists included: Ambassador Paul A. Trivelli (Civilian Deputy to the Commander and Foreign Policy Advisor, Jeff Olesen (Diplomat in Residence at FIU and MDC), Catherine Rodriguez (Regional Director, Office of Foreign Missions), and Roy Patrick (Officer in Charge of the Engineering Services Center at the Florida Regional Center in Fort Lauderdale (ESC/FRC), U.S. Department of State.
