Participants of New Professionals and Mid Managers Groups Recognized
The Division recently recognized staff who were participants in the 2010-11 Student Affairs New Professionals and Mid Managers Groups. We congratulate all who were selected and completed the program.
The New Professionals Group
The New Professionals Group, facilitated by Dr. Cathy Akens and Dr. Connie Boronot, was designed to provide ongoing development and networking opportunities to those who are new to working in Student Affairs. Through monthly meetings and a "common reading", members of the cohort worked on developing their skills as professionals and networking with others in the Division.
The group had monthly meetings, and were joined by other administrators in the Division, who shared a story of their own professional journey and lead discussion on the reading for that month.

The Mid Managers group, facilitated by Dr. Cathy Akens and Chief Bill King, was designed to provide ongoing development and networking opportunities to those who hold mid- manager positions in Student Affairs. A selected group of mid-manager professionals met monthly during the academic year.
The sessions introduced participants to senior leaders in the University, who helped the group explore various topics relevant to the experience and development of Student Affairs Middle Managers. Some of the topics included: Managing Change from the Middle; Supervision; Understanding Academic Structure and Priorities; Professional Engagement; University Politics; and more.
