Florida International University’s Recreation Expo

Chef Robert Irvine, host of the Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible, is the keynote speaker for the 2011 FIU Biscayne Bay Food & Recreation Expo. The Expo will take place: Monday, October 24, 2011 from 10:00AM to 3:00PMin the Wolfe University Center’s Panther Square and Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre (FIU, Biscayne Bay Campus, 3000 NE 151 Street, North Miami, FL 33181).

The event will feature a keynote address and a cooking demonstration from Chef Robert Irvine (in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre at 1:00PM). The event will also feature an exclusive food tasting from his keynote/cooking demonstration. The food tasting will be prepared in conjunction with the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management students. Pre-registration is suggested for outside community members at www.active.com (search: BBC Food and Rec Expo).

The Expo’s Vendor Fair will take place in Panther Square from 10:00AM – 1:00PM. Students, staff and outside community members can expect a variety of giveaways and promotional items. Some of the offerings that will be featured are health screenings, massages, and recreational and health information provided by over 40 community affiliates of the Campus Recreation Department.

Some of the participating vendors include: The Sports Authority, 5hr Energy Drink, Florida Blue, the Miami Herald, Whole Foods, the Miami Heat, GNC, ItsInMiami.com and a host of others this year. The Rec Expo is open to all students, faculty/staff and members of the local community are invited to attend.
