During the week of November 2nd, higher education institutions in South Florida will be hosting a group of overseas educational advisers. The participants are selected from overseas advising centers in the EducationUSA Network affiliated with the U.S. Department of State.
This program is administered by the College Board and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. FIU was selected to participate in a group of four institutions in South Florida coordinated by Miami Dade College participating in the 2009 US Based Training Program for Overseas Educational Advisers (USBT). Barry University and the University of Miami are also participating in this program.
On Tuesday, November 3rd, four educational advisers and one regional educational advising coordinator from Chile, Saudi-Arabia, Mexico, Kyrgyzstan and South Africa will visit both the Biscayne Bay and Modesto A. Maidique campuses. During their visit, they will meet with FIU faculty and administrators to learn about our admissions processes, opportunities for intensive English instruction, campus life, and career services.
They will be able to visit our state-of-the-art facilities and meet with faculty and staff to obtain information on the many academic programs we offer. FIU’s many offerings will be showcased throughout the day to these advisers who work with prospective students interested in studying in the United States.
