Victim Advocacy Center and the Women’s Center partner to facilitate FIU’s 6th annual Take Back the Night program

The Women’s Center and Victim Advocacy Center hosted the sixth annual Take Back the Night program.  Approximately 300 students attended the educational program which is designed to promote awareness and advocacy about domestic violence and sexual assault among the college population.

Students, faculty, staff and community members gathered to support awareness about the scope of violence against women, specifically sexual assault.

The event included a survivor who spoke about her experience of survival, followed by a walk against violence which included fourteen educational stations, developed by student organizations, fraternities, sororities and athletes. The event ended with “A Walk in My Shoes,” a display of shoes with stories of assault and survival.
