Victim Advocacy Center Sponsors 10th Annual Awareness and Prevention Workshop

Twenty-five students attended the Saturday workshop on Sept. 25, to learn about the dynamics of victimization from violence, including topics such as relationship abuse, sexual violence, hate crimes and stalking.

Through interactive discussions, video clips, print media ads, and music, students examined popular culture's depiction of violence and resultant desensitization through repeated exposure. In addition, students considered the impact of emotional abuse in romantic relationships, how traumatic experiences an disrupt students' academic progress, and about VAC services, FIU and community resources.
