Eric Arneson
Eric Arneson was recently recognized with one of the Division’s Distinguished Performance Awards for New Employee.
New Employee Award
Every year we have the honor of being joined by some exceptional new employees. The New Employee of the Year award is an opportunity to honor an individual who began working at FIU on or after June 1, 2008. Since then, this individual has had a significant impact at the University and in the Division.
In the short time that Eric has been the Director of Campus Life on the Modesto Maidique Campus, he has served as the advisor to the newly formed Black Student Union, now co-chairs the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee, hired two professional staff members, reorganized the Campus Life office and staff structure based on results from surveying student leaders, and served on the Freshman Convocation Committee and the United Way committee.
According to one nominator’s observations of his work with the Black Student Union, “Regardless of his race/ethnicity, Eric Arneson is everything BSU stands for… compassion, acceptance, innovation, structure, uprightness and blindness to everything except for the concept of solidarity.”
Another nominator said, “Eric is a joy to work with and his love for his job and FIU is apparent in every interaction he has with students and staff.”
We are proud to have Eric Arneson as part of our team in the Division of Student Affairs. |
