Bronwen Bares

This past fall, Bronwen Bares was recognized with one of the Division’s Distinguished Performance Awards for Professional Development.

Professional Development Award

The Professional Development Award recognizes an individual who provides service and/or contributes to the dissemination of knowledge for our profession, through one or more of the following areas: service to state, regional or national professional associations; publication of best practices or original research; or presentation at professional conferences.

Bronwen serves as Assistant Director for the Center for Leadership and Service and the Women’s Center at the Biscayne Bay Campus, where she has significantly increased programs and services during her tenure. Bronwen’ contributions to FIU students, staff, and their respective professional development are numerous. She continually works at helping students and staff to reach their goals. Bronwen serves on the Staff Development Committee, Safe Zone Training Committee, Diversity Day Committee, and many others.

She is currently working on a project to develop a competency model for our graduate students and staff. Bronwen’s nominator said that Bronwen handles her responsibilities with grace and enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude. Clearly, her work contributes to disseminating knowledge within our profession and division. We are proud to have Bronwen Bares as part of our team in the Division of Student Affairs.
