This past month, Darren Gregory was recognized with one of the Division’s Distinguished Performance Awards for Student Mentor.
The Student Mentor Award is designed to recognize an individual who has demonstrated a sincere commitment to helping students, either as a group advisor, or one who is actively involved in the academic and/or personal development of students. This individual promotes student learning and development, through their guidance and assistance.
Darren serves as a Career Coach with the Office of Career Services. He works diligently at developing all students in their career development process, but has a developed a specialty for working with students who have a disability. Darren has worked with the Phoenix program in partnership with Miami Dade County, in securing internships for students with disabilities. This year alone, the Phoenix Program awarded internships to 16 students, and it was because of Darren’s extraordinary dedication to the students he mentors that this all happened.
Darren also works with the Johnson Scholarship Foundation Career Initiative. One nominator wrote, “Darren’s commitment to working with students to identify the right career fit for them is apparent in every aspect of Darren’s day. His enthusiasm for mentoring students has helped individuals to achieve their goals.”
We are proud to have Darren Gregory as a member of The Student Affairs team!
