Lourdes Diaz–Bergouignan /Jan 2012

The Customer Service Award is designed to recognize an individual who always demonstrates professionalism by serving the needs of the University community. This individual takes the extra step to ensure that all students and clients feel important and welcome, and that expectations are not only met, but exceeded.
This past October the Customer Service Award was presented to Lourdes Diaz-Bergouignan.
Lourdes started her FIU career in 2006. Lourdes works in University Health Services Center as a Nursing Supervisor, where she is known for always going the extra step and for her positive attitude and her warm smile.
One significant example of her exceptional service was a time where Lourdes recently assisted one of our international students who were having some anxiety and stress. Lourdes encountered the student in the parking lot, after the clinic had closed and she was headed home from work. Not only did Lourdes turn back around and escort the student into the clinic to assist with him, but she calmed him down, listened to his story and showed concern for the challenges he was experiencing. Making students feel like they matter is the epitome of this award, and Lourdes does just that.
One of Lourdes’s nominators said, “She has taught me to be a better nurse and even better team player”. Another nominator said, “I would want Lourdes to be my nurse if I ever needed medical care.” And another wrote, “I consider myself lucky to know Lourdes. She is one of those few people, who truly inspire all those around her.”
We are proud to have Lourdes Diaz –Bergouignan as a member of The Division of Student Affairs. |
