Jessica Larsen / June 2012

The Student Affairs Service Award recognizes an individual whose service and contributions, through division and/or university projects and committees, and/or the local community, help to advance the goals of Student Affairs and the University. The recipient of the Service Award this past fall at The Division’s annual awards event was Jessica Larsen.
Jessica Larsen joined the International Student and Scholar Services team in 2008 as the Program Coordinator and has contributed to the sprit, productivity and overall success of the department. She has streamlined processes by improving business practices and revitalized the International Peer Mentor Program.
She is a role model and resource to the international students she advises and in her role as the International Student Club Advisor, where the club was awarded “Outstanding Organization in the Cultural/Social Community.” She heads the planning committee for International Education Week, coordinates and travels with students to the Florida International Leadership Conference, rejuvenated the ISSS signature event “International Coffee Hour” and contributes to the University-Wide Scholarship Committee.
Her nominator stated: “Jessica is an ambassador for FIU.
She is on the front lines of our global initiative, welcoming and assisting students from all over the World. Quite simply, Jessica is World’s Ahead.”
We are proud to have Jessica Larsen as a member of The Division of Student Affairs!
