Officer Roberto Leal

Officer Roberto Leal was recognized last month with the Division’s Distinguished Performance Award for Service.

Roberto Leal serves as a University Police Officer in our Department of Public Safety.  He is a consummate professional who goes above and beyond his duties to create effective partnerships with university departments, faculty, staff, and students.  His nominator wrote,” Officer Leal treats students with the utmost respect and courtesy, even in the most challenging of situations.  He works very hard to balance and serve the needs of our students and the FIU community in a fair and respectful manner.” His caring approach combined with his exceptional patience allows him to de-escalate situations even when students are responding in a disrespectful or inappropriate manner.”  Officer Leal is dedicated to a student-first approach to his duties and maintaining the safety of our greater FIU community.
