Staff Spotlight/Oct 2011

The Professional Development Award recognizes someone who provides service and/or contributes to the dissemination of knowledge for our profession.
This past October the Professional Development Award was presented to a subcommittee that worked in conjunction with the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee and took initiative and ownership for developing and implementing the new Student Affairs Competency Model. The recipients include Korrin Stanek, Bronwen Bares, Andrea Gaspardino Kovachy, and Ron Thompson.
This group spent countless hours researching and benchmarking what other institutions and national associations were doing to promote intentional development of staff. The group developed a very comprehensive model, which of course we have been utilizing with our graduate students and will now use with staff and supervisors. This model truly reflects “best practice” in Student Affairs, nationally. Their efforts to develop the model, train others, hold focus groups for feedback, and refine it set a foundation for an effort that has the potential to transform how we develop as professionals in the Division of Student Affairs.
We are proud to have this group of outstanding individuals as members of The Division of Student Affairs.
