Evelyn Rodriguez was recently recognized with one of the Division’s Distinguished Performance Awards for Customer Service.

Customer Service Award
The Customer Service Award recognizes an individual who always demonstrates professionalism by serving the needs of the University community. This individual takes the extra step to ensure that all students/clients feel important and welcome, and that expectation are not only met, but exceeded.

Evelyn serves FIU as Assistant Director of International Students & Scholar Services on the Modesto Maidique Campus. For the past three years with FIU, Evelyn’s primary role has been to monitor Panthersoft reports and the SEVIS system used by the Department of Homeland Security in order to help assure that FIU and international students are in compliance with U.S. immigration regulations. This can be a very daunting task and requires not only great attention to detail, but also comprehension of complex immigration and system procedures.

Despite these challenges and demands, the ISSS staff, as well as her colleagues in admissions, knows that they can contact Evelyn at anytime to help them resolve difficult issues. She goes out of her way to ensure that procedures and policies are understood by all involved in the F-1 student process. According to her nominator, “She has an open door approach to work and makes colleagues comfortable about contacting her for help. In the ISSS office, she is quick to take up the slack when student traffic gets busy by helping out at the front desk or taking student appointments.”
