Lieutenant Ricardo Torres
This past October, Lieutenant Ricardo Torres was recognized with one of the Division’s Distinguished Performance Awards for Leadership.
Lieutenant Ricardo Torres’ dedication and excellence to performing his duties, while motivating his peers and subordinates, demonstrates his commitment to carrying out the University’s mission. Promoted last June, Lieutenant Torres continues to go beyond his assigned duties and responsibilities to educate officers in the newest law enforcement investigative techniques. Lieutenant Torres speaks to student groups, instilling the values of FIU, and provides information on crime prevention to students, parents, and visitors of FIU. On his own time, Lieutenant Torres organizes meetings every year with the FIU Football team and staff to motivate and challenge them to achieve academic excellence and responsible behavior. Torres speaks to many student groups, as well as attends residence hall meetings, to provide crime prevention information. His goal is to reduce the occurrence of crimes on campus and in students’ futures. Lieutenant Torres’ leadership helps to ensure that all members of our university community have a safer place to live and work.
