LET'S READ TOGETHER FAMILY LITERACY PROJECT, Family Literacy/tutoring project located at Benjamin Franklin Elementary, 13100 NW 12th Avenue, and Broadmoor Elementary, 3401 NW 83rd Street

DESCRIPTION: As part of our effort to improve reading skills of children and to increase parental involvement in education, The Education Fund will be conducting a family literacy program. English language instruction will be provided to parents two evenings per week. While the parents are in class, volunteer tutors will work with their elementary aged children to improve their reading skills (as well as with general homework assistance). Each evening will close with parents and children involved together in reading activities.
OPPORTUNITIES: Assist elementary aged children with reading and homework. No special skills needed - just your enthusiasm and commitment to helping kids! Training and supervision will be provided by the Education Fund program staff.
HOURS NEEDED: Volunteers are needed Tues and Thurs from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Classes began in mid-October, but new volunteers are welcome anytime.
COMMENTS: This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to assist children in developing the academic skills they need to succeed.

DESCRIPTION: Lindsey Hopkins provides educational opportunities, vocational training, high school completion, General Education Diploma (GED), English as a Second Language (ESOL) programs, and assistance with HSCT (High School Competency Test) preparation.
OPPORTUNITES: Assist students in high school completion or GED preparation in Math and Language Arts; assist students who are learning the English language; assist students who are learning to read.
HOURS NEEDED: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 2:30pm and 6:30pm - 9:30pm; Saturday 9:00am - 12 noon.
COMMENTS: Should you require additional information or to schedule an orientation, contact Ms. Moorer between 9:00am - 2:00pm.
