This site is my old Web site (a new one is in development) and contains information related to my job at FIU. I have been a member of the faculty of the Department of Physics since 1988. From 2004 to 2011 I served as department chair. Since 2011 I am the Associate Director of the School of Integrated Science and Humanity. Research My main research interests are close binary stars and the modeling of binary star observables. Files of limb darkening coefficients based on a variety of stellar atmosphere models are located here. |
Undergraduate Research Opportunities The SARA REU program is a ten-week research internship carried out at FIU and administered by the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy (SARA). The program is sponsored by a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Participants receive a stipend. More... Some years ago (2003) I put together a public lecture on this subject and presented it for the first time as part of a public outreach program.
