Marxism on Trial: A Declaration

On this May Day on the 150th Anniversary year of the publication of Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto we charge Marxism to be a failed philosophy whose creed is ignorance and whose gospel is envy.

We use the same words used by Winston Churchill over 50 years ago when he saw the Iron Curtain descending over Eastern Europe. In the late 1980's the curtain was raised and the people of Eastern Europe and Russia were freed of Communism. Unfortunately, nearly a decade after the collapse of the Iron Curtain Marxism still dominates in America's Academia. We believe that ideas have consequences. Furthermore we believe that to not call Marxism to account for the crimes done in its name is to welcome a repetition of history.

Therefore, we are announcing a Trial of Marxism. We are calling on all those who have suffered under the jack boot of communism to stand up and be accounted for. We are tired of hearing the old cliche "that its a good idea too bad it hasn't worked in practice." Marxism has been responsible in the past century for 85 -100 million deaths and the wholesale destruction of societies and cultures.

Today on May 1, 1998 we put Marxism on Trial for its crimes against humanity. Visit our Marxism on Trial site at http://www.fiu.edu/~vasquezc/NOMARX4.htm for additional information.
