FIU YAFers Call for the release
of freedom fighter Ly Tong

On Tuesday May 15, outside the front entrance to FIU's University Park Campus, FIU YAFers called for the US government to take positive steps to secure the release of Ly Tong, US citizen, and freedom fighter. Ly Tong is currently being held in Thailand, charged with air piracy after having paid a Thai pilot to fly him over Saigon,Vietnam where he dropped pro-freedom pamphlets the day before Bill Clinton's state visit to that country. Even though the entire action was captured on camera by Ly Tong himself, the Thai government has seized the tapes and refused to release them. If you want to help out in securing the release of this modern day freedom fighter, visit www.freelytong.com. YAF intends to continue to call for Ly Tong's release until he is safely back in the United States.

YAFers Ian Merkel, John Suarez and Ken Guie holdup a banner calling for Ly Tong's release outside FIU's main entrance during rush hour. FIU YAF president Cesar Vasquez commented "We were pleasently surprised at signs of support from many passersby who were aparently well acquainted with Ly Tong's activities.
YAFers hold a "Free Ly Tong"banner and the YAF seal in front of FIU"s scenic front entrance.
