Course description:
Trigonometric functions and their graphs, inverse trigonometric
functions, identities and conditional equations, solving triangles, polar graphs, vectors, complex numbers, DeMooivre’s Theorem, and conic sections, etc..

electronic version of the textbook)

username and password will be given in class).
Prerequisites: You must have received a grade of C or better in
College Algebra.
Grading policy: Your final grade is determined by your total
score, nothing else, and cannot be altered for any reason.
There will be weekly online
homework (35 points in total) , quizzes (40 points in
total), four in-class paper and pencil tests (75 points each), and a
comprehensive final exam (125
points). The grading scale is as
follows:

If you are not able to

Late
submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances and the
deadline will
not be extended under any circumstances.

quizzes will be dropped. There will be NO make-ups for online assignments.
Attendance Policy: You are expected to attend all classes. It is your responsibility to
complete all
assignments on time regardless of whether or not you were
present in the class.
Make-up
Policy: There will be no make-up tests. If you have a genuine emergency, you are expected
to phone or email in advance, if possible (but no later than the day after the
test); be prepared to document your written excuse (hospital bill and doctor's
note, traffic tickets, etc.). If you are
excused from a test, that percentage of your grade will be made up on the
final. This policy applies to at most one test. Once you have started taking a
test, you cannot be excused from that test.
Calculator
Policy: Use
of graphing calculators is prohibited in this course. A scientific calculator
will be used occasionally.
Incomplete Grade Policy: IN grade is given to a student only under the condition that the student has substantially completed (with a passing grade) most of the course but is unable to finish an exam or other work because of circumstances beyond his/her control. An incomplete grade cannot be given if it is necessary for the student to repeat the course. An incomplete grade must be made up within two semesters. Every incomplete grade must be approved by the Mathematics Department.
DR
Grade: The
deadline to drop the course with a DR grade is Monday, March 19.
To drop the course, you need to do it yourself before the deadline. If you
simply stop coming to class, you will receive an F grade.
Academic
Misconduct: Includes (but is not
limited to) giving or receiving assistance on a test, quiz, or homework
assignment for which such assistance is not permitted, falsifying a document to
obtain an excusal from a test, and using unauthorized notes on a test or quiz.
A more complete definition of Academic Misconduct is given in the Student
Handbook. Penalties for Academic Misconduct range from an F in the course
to expulsion from the University.
Classroom
Etiquette: Please
avoid coming in late or leaving class early as such behavior is disruptive and
hence inappropriate. If you miss an entire class, get notes and homework
assignments from a classmate.
